The operation of several customs information systems will be impacted. We ask economic operators to take this into account and plan their activities in the working days preceding and following the interruption, if possible.
The reason behind the interruption is the introduction of new customs information systems and upgrades to several existing ones. As of 1 October 2023, the ETCB will transfer export clearance to the information system AES and transit clearance to the information system NCTS. We will also introduce a new transit guarantee information system and will update the national entry system NES, as well as the import clearance system Impulss. The purpose of the changes is to bring export and transit formalities into conformity with the requirements of the Union Customs Code and to update the entry formalities process for air cargo handlers.
In order to implement these changes, a temporary interruption in all customs information systems of the ETCB is necessary, and the operation of other ETCB information systems connected to customs information systems will also be impacted. X-tee services will be stopped as well. Similarly, it will not be possible to submit public data inquiries into the information systems of the ETCB during this period.
Border crossing takes place as usual, but fallback procedures must be used for customs clearance, which may take longer than usual.
We ask you to take the interruption into account and recommend that you do not plan customs clearance in this time period.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
