The border crossing point will remain open for pedestrians, as will train traffic.
Although there are no indications now that construction work will begin in a week's time, we are guided by the official information submitted to us and the Police and Border Guard Board. If further information is received from the Russian Federation, the current working arrangements at the border will be reviewed and, if necessary, corresponding changes will be introduced.
Nearly three quarters of border crossings in Narva are already done on foot. It is expected that there will remain travellers who will first take a bus to Narva, will then cross the border on foot and continue their journey from Ivangorod to their destination by another bus.
Ursula Riimaa, Deputy Director General for Customs at the Estonian Tax and Customs Board: “Our focus continues to be on the inspection of sanctioned goods, and closing the Narva border crossing point to vehicles will not change that. We ask that all freight transport be directed to Koidula or Luhamaa border crossing points instead of Narva-Ivangorod.”
The Narva-Ivangorod border crossing point is expected to remain closed to vehicles until the end of 2025.
