The mobile X-ray system of US origin is unique in Europe and will be used all over Estonia – at border crossing points, on roads and in ports. The machine is equipped with the most modern solutions, which make it possible, among other things, to identify organic and radioactive substances inside the cargo, vehicles and containers being inspected. The new X-ray technology of the system helps to find prohibited goods inside very tightly filled containers and has excellent image quality.
The ETCB will receive the new X-ray system thanks to a memorandum of understanding concluded between the Republic of Estonia and the United States of America. The system has been manufactured by Rapiscan Systems, a US company, and it costs approximately 3.1 million euros.
The X-ray system will be handed over to the ETCB at a ceremony at the end of August. The name chosen as a result of the name competition will also be published then.
