Meat and dairy products

No meat or dairy products intended for human consumption or feeding pets may be brought or sent from third countries to the European Union, except:

  • products from the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland up to 10 kg per person;

  • powdered infant feeding formulae and follow-on formulae, children’s food, and foodstuffs for human consumption or feedingstuffs for pets with special medical purposes having the aggregate mass up to 2 kg per person and/or per pet (provided that these are brand names in original packaging and need not cooling before consumption).

Fishery products

Fishery products (raw, dried, roasted, salted or smoked fish; processed shrimps, prawns and crayfish; not living mussels and oysters) intended for personal consumption may be brought or sent into the European Union provided that:

  • raw fish is gutted;
  • the aggregate mass of a fish or fishery products does not exceed 20 kg per person (except black caviar);
  • no limitations are applied for fishery products from the Faroe Islands and Iceland.

Quantities for other products of animal origin intended for human consumption

  • Other animal products (for example, honey, live oysters, mussels and snails) with the aggregate mass of up to 2 kg per person may be brought or sent into the European Union.
  • The same products from the Faroe Islands, Greenland and Iceland may be brought or sent  with the aggregate mass of up to 10 kg per person.

  • Every traveller is allowed to bring along 125 grams of sturgeon caviar without a CITES permit.

 

All food products from the Member States of the European Union, from Switzerland, Norway, Andorra and San Marino are allowed to bring along in reasonable quantities for personal consumption.
