User account and access permissions

A user account is created for every Estonian citizen and natural person registered with the Estonian Tax and Customs Board.

For your user account information, in the e-MTA click ‘Settings’ →  ‘User account’ where

  • you will see your user account information;

  • you can remove means of authentication if there are more than one.
    Please note! Authentication using an Estonian personal identification code or the last valid means of authentication cannot be removed.

Access permissions

In the e-MTA

A user in the private client role automatically has the permissions for using all the e-services of a private client.

The legal representative of a legal person (company, state, rural municipality or city agency, non-profit association) receives automatic access permissions for the use of e-services on behalf of the legal person and for the management of the access permissions.

On behalf of oneself or parties represented, access permissions can be managed in the e-MTA under ‘Settings’ →  ‘Access permissions’.

Via e-mail or at the service bureau

To add access permissions, e-mail a digitally signed authorisation document to e-maks@emta.ee, or contact the nearest service bureau.

  • If you are a legal representative for the company, provide the client service staff member with:
    • the identity document;
    • the authorisation document for using the e-MTA, where you indicate the persons that you authorise to use the e-MTA on behalf of the company.

  • If you are an authorised representative for the company, provide the client service staff member with:
    • the identity document;
    • the notarial authorisation document for representing the company;
    • the authorisation document for using the e-MTA, where you indicate the persons authorised to use the e-MTA on behalf of the company.
